Together, 1221 and 1271 Avenue of the Americas have avoided over 600 metric tons of carbon emissions—the equivalent of removing 120 cars from the road. The energy saved from recycling plastic, cardboard, and aluminum could power more than 20 homes for a year. Even small habits matter: if every tenant swapped one disposable item for a reusable each day, we’d eliminate over 120 tons of waste annually—the weight of 10 full garbage trucks. Simple choices lead to big results.

  • Recycling that cuts Carbon

    That 600-metric-ton reduction in carbon emissions comes from everyday materials: paper that would otherwise decompose in landfills, aluminum that takes 95% more energy to produce from raw ore, and plastics that, when recycled, spare the air from nearly 1.5 tons of CO2 for every ton processed. Across both buildings, even routine recycling decisions are adding up to measurable climate impact.

  • Cardboard that Carries Weight

    Cardboard alone accounts for more than 180 tons of recycling each year between 1221 and 1271. Its value isn’t just in volume—it’s in offsetting emissions. Cardboard recycling avoids nearly three tons of carbon per ton processed, reducing our collective footprint and helping close the loop on a material used daily in deliveries and packaging.
